Vancouver Native Health (VNH) Clinic

The Vancouver Native Health (VNH) clinic aims to improve and promote the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health of individuals, focusing on the Aboriginal community. CHIUS and the VNH clinic have partnered to offer UBC medical and nursing students with the opportunity to participate in this clinic. The clinic delivers comprehensive medical, counselling and social services generally to Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (DTES) Aboriginal community. Many of the people who frequent the clinic are dealing with overlapping issues and concurrent health issues such as substance abuse, mental health concerns, chronic disease, homelessness and poverty. The students work in a multidisciplinary comprehensive care clinic under the supervision of a family medicine preceptor and nursing (RN) preceptor.

If you are interested in participating in CHIUS please visit the Interprofessional Education (IPE) Passport website:  https://passport.health.ubc.ca/

Please note intake is usually mid-August, and all students must attend a mandatory CHIUS Orientation in September.
